Privacy
What this site records, why, and how to turn it off.
Visits
The site keeps its own record of visits: which pages were opened, how long for and how far down, the site or campaign link that brought you here, whether you were on a phone, tablet or computer, and actions such as pressing play or sending a form. To tell that two pages were read by the same browser it stores a random ID in a cookie named sc_vid. The record lives on our own server. It is not sold, and it is not shared with an advertising network.
If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal, none of this is recorded. Otherwise you can switch it off for this browser here; the choice is remembered in this browser only.
Forms
If you join the notification list we keep your email address and use it to tell you when a new issue is out. If you send the contact form we keep what you typed — your name, email, phone number if you gave one, and your message — so the hosts can reply. When you send a form from a browser that has visit tracking on, the message is linked to that browser’s visit record, so we can see which page prompted it.
AI assistant
The hosts can connect an AI assistant (Claude, made by Anthropic) to the site’s back office to help them read and sort messages and visit records. When they use it, the records it reads are sent to Anthropic to produce the answer. It cannot delete anything or send email, and it is only available to the hosts.
Listening progress
How far you got through an issue — what “Continue listening” and the progress rings show — is stored in your browser and nowhere else. Clearing your browser’s site data removes it.
Video
Issues are played with YouTube’s embedded player. Nothing is loaded from YouTube until you press play; once you do, YouTube’s own privacy policy applies to the player.
Asking us to remove something
Write to sgowing@socialcatnip.com and we will delete what we hold about you: your address on the list, a message you sent, or the visit record tied to it.
